In the beginning I was born to two very hard working parents in NYC. Then when I was 2 years old, we moved to a small Island in the Caribbean called Puerto Rico. I spent the next ten years of my youth living there. Island life was wonderful. Going to the beach every weekend and sometimes on weekdays after my parents got out of work. There I began my artistic journey. My imagination was my best friend. My parents owned a hardware store and I spent most of my time there. Using anything I could find to create something new. I made tables, houses and chairs. Just about anything that I could build. Then one day, I found out that we were moving to Florida. I was very excited about my soon to be new adventures.
In High School I took every opportunity to take any art class I could find. I loved them all. I enjoyed my art classes so much that, one semester I when I was placed in drivers education course. I went to the guidance office and had them change it to an art class. Four years went by and now I was graduating and going off to college.
I attended Valencia Community College and took every Art class I could afford. Then, there was my first course in Graphic Design. I was hooked. I could create in a new way using the computer. I learned about Adobe Creative Suite Software, Flash, Web, design, print and illustration. My last semester I interned as a Graphic Designer for a Software Development company. Soon after I graduated with an A.S. Degree in Graphic Design. I quickly became a full time permanent designer. I lead story boarding meetings, art directed flash animations and created videos for Software user training. When I was not working, I continued to work on little freelance opportunities and personal creative endeavors.
Three years later, I found myself traveling to south America. Buenos Aires to be exact. I spent two moths learning about the culture, the food and the art. When I returned I began working for Xulon Press as a Graphic Designer. Ive been working on hundreds of book covers, book promotional videos, advertisements, web page design and recently on the creation of ebooks. I continue to this day to be as creative as possible with every project I work on.
In 2011 I began a branding project called Dirty Kawaii. Inspried by urban illustration and Japanese Kawaii style drawings. A new creative journey was forged. Using my Illustrations ,I have created a new world of characters. Each with their own unique style. The name Dirty Kawaii is descriptive of the style of the illustrations. They are cute or kawaii characters, but have a dirty, gritty texture to add to their unique style and appeal.
Finally, we come to the mother of one part of the story. On September of 2012 I gave birth to my daughter. She has been a blessing and an inspiration for me. I've realized that the world is always growing and changing in new ways. That design is also changing and growing. Which is one of the many reasons I love to do what I do.
